Russell Books
From MediaSell
Russell Books Russell Books first started in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1962 as a small used bookstore of only 300 square feet and a single aisle. It gradually grew into the biggest used, antiquarian and remainder bookstore in its city and in 1991 Russell Books opened a Victoria, British Columbia store at 734 Fort Street where it stands today. Russell Books Ltd. is owned by Ron DePol and Diana Russell, while daughter Andrea manages the company with husband Jordon.
In 2005 Diana's son Brandon and his wife Charlene opened a third division of Russell Books, Books on View, located at 702 View Street in Victoria. In October of 2008 Russell Books expanded further by adding another 3000 square feet to their Fort Street location. With over 1 million books in stock and 25 employees Russell Books is Canada’s largest used bookstore in both size and inventory.
While expanding their brick and mortar stores Russell Books ventured into the world of online bookselling. As popularity of online shopping soared, Andrea turned to online inventory management system FillZ. The simplicity of using FillZ to sell on multiple online marketplaces enabled Russell Books to expand their online presence and significantly grow their revenue. Since starting with FillZ in January of 2008 Russell Books’ online sales have increased to 10% of their overall sales.
Outside of selling on mainstream marketplaces like AbeBooks.com and Amazon.com, Russell Books had a web store for which managing inventory and sales were problematic. Updating store inventory and managing orders was different than how they managed inventory and orders on other online venues and was disrupting what could easily be a streamlined process. In September 2008 Andrea contacted ChrisLands (http://www.chrislands.com) for a solution to her web store management dilemma. ChrisLands built a new online store for Russell Books and the benefits were immediately proven.
As a FillZ supported marketplace, ChrisLands stores are successfully managed by FillZ exactly like other major online venues. A ChrisLands built store can be managed like other marketplaces, but is unique to your bookstore. Unlike other web store providers, Chrislands offers many possibilities for bookstores by including fields for title, author, ISBN, binding, and publisher, and all for a much lower cost than its competitors. At $199.99, ChrisLands is the ultimate solution for the bookseller seeking an easy to use and easy to manage online bookstore to suit their specific needs and increase their sales.
