[edit] Great news: Our music and movie sections are now better than ever!
We're pleased to announce the launch of our new music section and movie section at Alibris. Although we have been selling music and movies for the last few years, we have made across-the-board improvements that will greatly enhance the shopping experience. For our current sellers with CDs and DVDs to sell, this is an exciting development. For our booksellers with music and movie products, we hope you will take advantage of this selling opportunity. Even if you sell only books, we expect increased traffic to our site and, therefore, more sales opportunities for everyone.
Here are the main improvements included with this site enhancement:
- Precise product display: Due to the addition of a data-rich merchandising catalog, search results will now include cover art, detailed descriptions, music track listings, and links to search results based on artists, composers, lead actors, directors, and more.
- Easy genre browsing: Now customers can search for music and movies by categories (e.g., "Jazz" and "Drama"). With this new feature, they will find items they didn't even know they were looking for.
- Improved search capability: We've made it simpler for customers to find the titles they're looking for with our more powerful search functionality. The new catalog will also drive more successful searches with its enhanced listing information.
- Expanded marketing programs: We're prepared for the holiday season with online promotions, coupons, and partner programs to draw attention to our new music and movie sections.
- A new and "skinny" inventory-upload process: We already have this functionality for booksellers; now we've simplified the process for adding music and movie inventory. Just give us the UPC, price, and condition of your CDs and DVDs and we'll fill in the rest of your listings for you. It's that easy! In the next couple of weeks, you will also be able to add your music and movie items manually through the Seller Hub.
The holiday season has arrived!
As we approach the height of the holiday shopping and buying season, Alibris thanks you for your continued partnership. As you always do, please keep in mind the following best practices for this busy season:
- Check your orders and inventory every day. Keep your inventory current by deleting, editing, and adding new items where needed—especially top-selling gift items. Please check the Seller Hub for incoming orders at least once per day.
- Ship your orders every day. Getting your orders out the door quickly will ensure that they arrive on time for the holidays.
- Prepare for order spikes. Alibris is heavily marketing this season with coupons and other online promotions, so be prepared for order spikes by stocking up on packaging materials and other supplies needed to ship your orders quickly.
We have posted Alibris shipping expectations and Alibris U.K. shipping expectations to apprise customers of important shipping deadlines. Please keep these dates in mind throughout the holiday season.
