[edit] General
- You must have an eBay Store account to list on eBay through FillZ.
- User does not supply passwords to third parties software providers. User has to click on activation link. If you change password, need to reactivate.
- "combined shipping discount" sample: "Pay only $1.00 shipping for each additional item from this seller's other listings!". This setting is only on the eBay store and is not managed by third-party software. Here is a link to change it.
- If the item is in eBay's catalog, item-specific data from the catalog will appear at the top of the item. This is called "item-specifics" and "listing catalog items" on eBay.
- Items cannot be placed in Store Categories that have 2nd level categories inside. If you wish to have a "catch-all" for such items, create an "Other" sub-category. For example if you have Books->Non-Fiction->Art and Books->Non-Fiction->Games, consider having a Books->Non-Fiction->Other category.
- Doesn't allow for Teachers Editions to be sold.
- "Used Ex-library books" can not have a condition higher than "Good".
- eBay tokens must be maintained; they expire after 12 months. You can re-enable your token on the "eBay Settings page' by clicking "Reactivate Link". Please note that your eBay token will affect your Half.com account.
- You can revoke third-party authorization in your eBay Account under "Preferences."
- Currently we use the defaulted Amazon information and don't send "Additional Attributes" to eBay. You can add pertinent information to your Item Notes.
- You can over-write a title if the default isn't correct.
[edit] FillZ
[edit] Getting Started
*Click here for a pictorial step-by-step demonstration of how to configure your FillZ settings for activation.
- In your eBay settings on FillZ, the minimum amount of information required to activate your eBay link is something in the Filter section (even if it's just 0.01 for the minimum price) and something in the Payment section.
- Supports Catalog (books with isbn) and non-Catalog.
- It isn't required to change the orders to "shipped", however, you can if you wish. If the order is cancelled you do have to go to the site directly & change the status.
- User must have shipping amounts entered for type (ie Video/DVD,Music,book) on their eBay settings so we can send as "immediate payment" . If shipping is not specified, we can't send it as "immediate payment" so we send it regular (shipping and total to be specified by seller).
- To enable images click "Settings" -> "Marketplaces" -> "Configuration for eBay". Image URLs and Gallery Images aren't automatically posted as eBay used to charge higher listing costs when these were included (this changed on February 20, 2008).
[edit] *Important:
- Please ensure that your feedback profile is NOT set to private.
- We are currently only integrated with eBay.com. We don't offer full support for International eBay accounts. Sellers who list on eBay.co.uk through FillZ, for example, will appear as if they are selling from the US.
[edit] Shipping info
- The FillZ shipping settings for additional items only apply when there is quantity greater than 1 for the *same* item.
- Can control expedited shipping
- If no shipping is specified in the shipping matrix - the buyer will have to ask for a quote
- If domestic shipping is specified it will be used
- If domestic shipping is specified but international is not - the item will not be available internationally
- It is not possible to "ask for quote" only for international
- "Combined Shipping Discount": This setting is only accessible through eBay. You can't change the settings through FillZ. Click on this link to modify the setting: http://payments.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SoldGlobalPreferences&mode=0
[edit] Purge/update info
- There is no purge option for eBay since closing and reopening all items incurs listing insertion fees.
- Refilter adds and deletes items based on the filter settings. This is used when the filter parameters are changed. It can also be used to delete all items by setting the filter price high (and having nothing in the salesrank filter).
- Update-all function sends an update for each item that is currently listed. Anytime you make changes on eBay settings page, you will be asked to Update-all. Most of the time this function does not incur eBay fees.
[edit] Exceptions
1. A listing cannot be revised if a sale already occurred (you have multiple copies of an item, one sold and you are trying to change a listing with remaining copies). In this case, the listings will be closed and reopened and you will be charged listings fees.
2. The duration of a listing can't be revised. If you change your listings from "Good until Cancelled" to "30 Day" or vice-versa and click "Update All", all of your items will be closed and re-opened and you will be charged listing fees.
[edit] Close and Reopen All Listings
If you wish to close and re-open all listings (e.g. if you want to switch durations), please follow this procedure. You will incur listing fees.
- Enter 9999 in the Filter price field and leave the Filter rank field empty on the eBay settings page on FillZ.
- Hit Save
- Go to the marketplaces list and initiate a Refilter for eBay
- Wait 2-4 hours until all of your items have been removed from eBay and the status changes from Refilter to Normal
- Go back and enter your old Filter price and rank
- Go to the marketplaces list and initiate another Refilter
- Wait until your items have been listed
[edit] Templates
- The seller can create HTML templates to customize their listings.
- The templates use variables. Each variable starts and ends with a % sign. For example: %title%.
- We provide the following variables by default: %name% - title, %author%, %price%, %condition% - Used/New, %conditionDisplay% - specific condition, %notes% - item notes, %prodid% - ISBN or UPC code, %idtype% - the type of %prodid%, %media% - binding or media
- Other information is passed along if filled in by the user in the listings: %publisher%, %pubyear%, %imageurl%, %edition%
- Any of these variables will be blank if the information is not available
[edit] Setting Up a Template
- For a basic template, go to the FillZ samples directory and download ebayTemplate.html to your computer. For example, if you are using Firefox, right click on the link for ebayTemplate.html and choose Save link as....
- For an Advanced template provided by books_aplenty, go to the FillZ samples directory and download ebayTemplate2.html to your computer. You can add/change graphics, animations, html tags, fonts and links on the template. To see a copy of the template in use with these features, please check out the items in books_aplenty's eBay store.
- Go to your FillZ account, then click on Settings -> Marketplaces from the menu
- Click on Configuration for eBay
- Go to the Templates section
- Click on the Browse... button for Books and select ebayTemplate.html from your computer
- Click on Save
- If you have already listed items on eBay through FillZ and would like to update them, go back to Settings -> Marketplaces and click Update-all for eBay. This will update your existing items
[edit] eBay Store Categories
To use eBay categories through FillZ you need configure browsepaths:
- Go to "Settings"->"Marketplaces"->"Configuration for eBay" and fill in the boxes for "Category mapping based on Browse Path". If you need help, there is a help bubble that will walk you through it.
- You will also need to update the individual listings with the corresponding browse paths.
- Example in eBay settings page:
If Browsepath starts with: Record Album
Then use this category #: 123456
- You would then need to add "Record Album" in the browsepath field for your listing.
[edit] eBay Fee Increase of August 2006
We have some recommendations regarding the EBay Fee Increase.
[edit] Other
- We never touch listings that we did not create on eBay. Items listed through third-party tools do not interact in any way with our items. This means that items may be duplicated if they are listed through us and through another tool.
- If you upload an item through FillZ and then edit that item with another third-party tool, that edit may be overwritten the next time FillZ updates the item.
[edit] eBay Changes 2008
[edit] Listing Minimum
eBay no longer accepts listings under $1.00. We have implemented a check box on the Settings page to allow you to bump up your list price to meet the requirement.
1. Log in to your FillZ account, click "Settings" -> "Marketplaces" -> "Configuration for eBay" 2. Fill in "Increase items to marketplace minimum price ($0.01) if item is at least $__ and click "Save." If you enter a value in this field, all new listings that are equal to or higher than that value will be uploaded with the minimum price.
[edit] Gallery Photos
Gallery Photos are now free. If you had a minimum price previously for gallery photos, you'll need to go into your eBay settings and change the filter. You will need to do an Update-All in order for this change to take effect.
