Jenson Books Case Study
Steve Jenson runs two successful accounts with FillZ and began his association with us in May 2004. He is the owner/operator of Jenson Books and Bookfriends Inc and runs both accounts single-handedly. He has been selling exclusively online for about 7 years now.
Before tackling his bookselling venture, Steve was working for a Market Research company and stumbled into bookselling almost by accident. It all started with a trip to the library where Steve was doing some research and ended up purchasing a $.50 book about how to make bread. He listed the book on Half.com for $5.00 and then forgot all about it. A few months later he received an email notifying him that the one listing he loaded had been purchased. He immediately went back to the library and purchased several other books and the start of a very successful business was underway.
Initially, he listed more books on Half.com and then eventually added Alibris. At the time, he was hoping to begin listing with Amazon, but was discouraged by the labour involved with managing inventory and sales on three separate sites. A fellow bookseller recommended FillZ and Steve joined shortly thereafter. He was with FillZ briefly and was curious about other inventory and sales management solutions. After switching to a competitor for a short period of time, Steve returned to FillZ. He was happier with FillZ’ web-based product, lack of start up costs, low commission fees, free customer support and user-friendly features, such as our order processing and inventory management tools.
Currently, Steve manages an inventory of just over 20,000 books and receives roughly 100 orders a day through FillZ on multiple markets such as eBay, AbeBooks, Alibris, Amazon, Biblio, Half, textbookX and Valore. During our Interview, Steve expressed how happy he is that FillZ has enabled him to "get on so many venues and also offer international exposure" to his business.
