[edit] Overview

The Inventory Input page allows you to add items to a new or existing location, delete items from a location, or change the SKU of existing items in bulk. This can be done manually or with the use of a scanner.

[edit] How to

When adding or editing items, you must include a location and a SKU. The "SKU Prefix" corresponds to the first part of the SKU that will be assigned to your item(s). The "# of SKU Suffix Digits" corresponds to how many digits will be added to the SKU prefix. For example, if you enter "floor" as your SKU prefix and "2" for the Suffix, your SKUs will have the format of floorXX. The first item item you add with this prefix and suffix will be assigned the SKU of floor00. The next item you add will have the SKU floor01, and so on.

Items can be identified by ISBN, EAN or ASIN. Some UPCs are supported using the inventory input page. When adding ISBNs, EANs, ASINs or UPCs, please use one of the following formats:

ISBN (or EAN or ASIN or UPC)
ISBN, Condition
ISBN, Condition, Quantity
ISBN Condition ISBN Condition Quantity

If no quantity is entered, the quantity will be defaulted to "1". There can only be one ISBN, EAN, ASIN or UPC per line. If including the condition or condition and quantity, separate the data with a comma or space. Conditions will only be recognized by using the Amazon condition codes ("Like New" or "Good" will not work - the item will be added to your inventory but without a condition).. The Amazon condition codes are:

1 (Used, Like New); 2 (Used, Very Good); 3 (Used, Good); 4 (Used, Acceptable); 5 (Collectible, Like New); 6 (Collectible, Very Good); 7 (Collectible, Good); 8 (Collectible, Acceptable); 10 (Refurbished - for computers, kitchen & housewares, electronics, and camera & photo only); 11 (New).

Here is an example of how 2 ISBNs with different conditions and quantities can be entered in the text field:

0123456789, 1, 20
0123456789 2
0970868502 11 5
0970868502, 3

The first ISBN will be added as Used, Like New with a quantity of 20. The 2nd item (the same ISBN but different condition) will be added as Used, Very Good with quantity of 1. The third ISBN will be added as New with a quantity of 5. The fourth entry (same as 3rd but with different condition) will be added as Used, Good with a quantity of 1. The system will not allow you to add the same item, with the same condition to the same location (the Results will show "duplicate input" if this is the case).

After adding items to the text field, click the Check Input button to see the results. In order to apply the input, you must click the Apply Changes button.

[edit] Options

All Items in Location (re-inventory): This will allow you to add items to an existing or new location. After clicking the "Check Input" button, the results will show you *all* the existing items/SKUs in that location in addition to any items to be added. You do not need to enter any SKU information if you are only adding new items. The default is to add the items you just inputted AND delete the items that were already in that location (the "Delete" box will automatically be marked for the existing SKUs). If you do not want to delete the existing SKU(s) in that location, be sure to unmark the check box(es) before applying changes.

All Items in Location (re-inventory and re-sku): This performs the same function as "re-inventory" in addition to allowing you to change the SKUs of items that already appear in an existing location. You will want to enter a different SKU Prefix and/or a different # of Suffix digits than what was already assigned to re-sku existing items. For example, if you have a location A1 and there is an item in that location with the SKU prefix of "Shelf" with a suffix of "2" and you want to change the SKU of that item - you would enter "A1" as the location, enter a different SKU prefix and/or a different SKU Suffix Digit, and input the ISBN (or ASIN/EAN). Be sure to indicate/enter the condition if you have the same item in different conditions in the same location. As in re-inventory, items that already appear in the location will show up in the Results section marked to be deleted.

New Items Only: This will add new items to a new location or to an existing location. Unlike the re-inventory and re-sku features, this will not show existing SKUs in the location in the Results section - you cannot delete SKUs using this feature. If you enter an item that already exists in the location, with the same SKU (taking suffix into account), the Results section will indicate that this item already exists in the location and you will not be able to add this item.

Items in Location to Delete: This is where you can delete items from a location. You do not need to enter any SKU information with this feature, just the location. If you are trying to delete an item that appears more than once in the location with different conditions, you must enter the condition as well.
